Context
Pam and Len are sitting in a rowboat in a local park. Len had a one night stand with Pam and is now a lodger in her family home. He is clearly still enamored of Pam, and dreamily imagines their future together, regardless of the fact that he has no money or assets. However, Pam is more aloof, refusing to commit to any stability with Len. As they talk, Len questions the frosty relationship between her parents but Pam insists that she doesn’t know why it started in the first place.
