PETER
I don’t want you to feel responsible.
(He sips the coffee as he looks into her eyes. (Laura pours herself coffee and sits across from him at the kitchen table.)
LAURA
I never thought I’d hear you say that. I don’t know why things are this way with us, Dad. I tried – and you know that this has been terrible on me, too. Mom thinks I favor you. Your new wife thinks I want her out of the picture. And you—you’re all over the map about my place now in your life. For God’s sakes – I’m neutral! It’s not my marriage. It’s not my divorce! Between all of you, it’s been a madhouse. You know, there were times I felt like getting you, Mom and your new wife in a boxing ring and letting the three of you fight it out.
PETER
