JUDY
Hey, Morgan, wait up!
MORGAN
(To JUDY, trying very hard to not let her group of “cool” friends see her.)
I’ll just talk to you after school, ok?
EMMA
(Noticing that Judy is somehow “different”) Why are you talking to her ?
MORGAN
What? I wasn’t. Let’s go.
EMMA
I mean she does have quite an interesting “look” going on. Like, definitely “different”. (Very rudely to JUDY) Can I take a picture of you for my Insta?
(The mean clique of girls laugh at EMMA’S remark. MELISSA, who has taken the longest getting organized starts to go and MADDOX pushes her pack off of her back. MELISSA’S pack falls and books, notebooks and pencils spill out. This also happens to save Morgan from the uncomfortable encounter taking place with JUDY.)
MORGAN
(As her group laughs at MADDOX, who eats it up)
Seriously, why are we hanging out with all these weirdos?? Can we go?
(MORGAN’S FRIENDS laugh and exit. JUDY goes off in the opposite direction, her feelings clearly hurt. AMBER crosses and sees MELISSA struggling to get all of her stuff back in order. She rushes over to help her.)
AMBER
Hey, are you ok?
MELISSA
Yeah, I’m ok. I think.
AMBER
Wow, you have a lot of books.
MELISSA
(Laughing sheepishly) Yeah.
AMBER
Those guys are such jerks.
