Context
Bob and Fran’s younger son Ben comes to their house late at night, sweating, high, and panicked. He tells his parents that he has embezzled money from his company and will be caught, and while Fran decides that she will do what she can to help her son, Bob argues that Ben knew right from wrong, and chose to do wrong - just because he could. Bob refuses to offer up any money or mortgage the house to pay back what Ben stole, so Fran states that she’ll use her own money, which is a sizeable amount
