(Song ends.) CINDY begins singing a Betty Boop type song of the 1940's (“I Wanna Be Loved by You”).
ALISSA
Don’t worry, sweetheart. You’re doing the right thing. You’ve got to get her before she gets you.
DAVE
In a way, it’s self-defense. I mean, you saw Fatal Attraction.
ALISSA
That’s right.
DAVE
Although she hasn’t exactly done anything harmful yet.
ALISSA
Do you want to wait till she does?
DAVE
No. I’m sick of this. I don’t want things to get any uglier than they already are.
ALISSA
Look at it this way. It’s pre-self-defense. You’re preventing the need for self-defense.
DAVE
Kind of like preventive maintenance or medicine.
