(CINDY begins singing a comedy-type song of the 1940's. (“How Much Is that Doggie in the Window”)
JACKIE
That bitch is gonna pay for what she did.
JOHN
You mean to your bitch?
JACKIE gives him a dirty look.
JOHN
Sorry.
JACKIE
Look at her sitting up there singing as if she didn’t have a care in the world. Well, after tonight, she won’t!
JOHN
You’re doing the right thing. As your lawyer and as your friend, I back you up 100 percent. This is not only justifiable revenge for you, but you’re doing me a favor too. I am sick and tired of people bringing stupid, idiotic lawsuits into our office. It has to stop somewhere!
JACKIE
Is that all you can think about? My Baby Bumpkins is dead! And all she could say when she killed him was, “You can just go down to the pet store and buy another stupid dog! You don’t have to wait to get it repaired. It’ll take weeks to repair this car. You can go buy a new dog today.” (Sadly) Buy a new dog -- like it was a sweater or a hat. You can’t just go down to the store and replace the love and affection of a dear, sweet doggie.
JOHN
The insurance company never should have paid for the damage to her car.
JACKIE
What about the damage done to my little baby? Who’s gonna pay for that? I’ll tell you who -- Miss Cindy Jacobson, that’s who!
SANDY enters and comes to John and Jackie’s table.
SANDY
Can I get you a couple of more White Russians?
JOHN
Yes, please.
SANDY
Right away. (Exits.)
JOHN
Why don’t you just run over her with your car? Let her see what it feels like.
JACKIE
Don’t worry. When she sits at her dressing table and that chandelier comes crashing down on her head, she’ll know exactly what it feels like to get squished.
