Context

Text

Gloria So, Donna…what’s with you talking to that rock guy Stephen.

Donna Oh, please. I went to see that movie Rocky that Barry was talking about, and I ran into him in the parking lot after.

Barry It was good huh?

Donna Yes, it was the bomb!

Casey Hey, don’t change the subject. Do you like this guy? I’ve been wanting to go out with you for a while. Don’t tell me you like him!

Gloria Casey, after she and I left the parking lot, I think she went back.

Donna Gloria! Stop! I had to go back because I forgot something. (Lying.) Like him? I don’t even know him (Flustered and struggling.)

Gloria Yea, well, that wouldn’t be cool if you liked him.

Casey It would be “heartbreaking.”

Barry Heartbreaking? It would be gross!

Donna You guys are being a little over dramatic, aren’t you?

Casey Donna, rockers are different than us. Rock and disco don’t mix.

Gloria It’s like oil and water.

Barry It’s like orange juice and toothpaste.

Donna Ha,Ha. I’m not saying I like this guy, but what if I did? We may not have music in common, but maybe we would have other things in common-like Mr. Bowie said. We obviously like the same movie.

Gloria Mr. Bowie is square.

Donna Look, I don’t know if I like him. But what’s wrong with liking someone with different tastes. And Casey, you’re very handsome and you’re a dear friend. I love you but I never saw you that way.

Casey It can’t happen! If you have any thoughts of being with him, you better think about your friends.

Donna Casey, what are you saying? (Casey gives no response.)

Barry Donna, it’s too weird

Gloria Baby, you’re like a sister to me. All of us here, we’re like a family. Don’t risk losing us for a little fun with a rocker.
