Context
This scene is a transcript of an interview between Rob DeBree, a sergeant for the Sheriff’s Office, and Aaron McKinney, one of two men who brutally beat Matthew Shepard and left him for dead. In this interview, Aaron confesses to the crime. He recounts what happened that night, why he attacked Matthew, and does not show remorse. However, Aaron does seem concerned about his future, expressing that he worries he will never see his daughter again.

Start: Rob: Okay, so you guys, you and Russ go to the Fireside. So you’re at the Fireside by yourselves, right? Aaron: Yeah.
End: Aaron: So what are they going to give me, twenty-five to life or just the death penalty and get it over with? Rob: That’s not our job. That’s the judge’s job and the jury.
