Context
Daniel Kaffee, a lawyer for the US Navy, is the defense counsel appointed to two young Marines accused of murdering another soldier in their unit. The trial has been difficult, and the defense has suffered several setbacks. In a last-ditch effort to save the boys, Kaffee decides, despite the risk of being court-martialed for going after a high-ranking officer, to subpoena Colonel Nathan Jessep for testimony.
