Context
This scene occurs near the beginning of the play, before the character’s inner thoughts and secrets have been revealed. Kathryn, a British photojournalist, awaits the return of the dictator. Outside, the city is seized by revolution and rebels have taken over. Kathryn is here to take the dictator’s portrait but he is late and she is unable to communicate effectively with the dictator’s wife, Micheleine due to a language barrier. START: GENEVIEVE: Micha –
MICHELEINE: Genie, what are we to do with you?
GENEVIEVE: Was the Oolio on the telephone?
MICHELEINE: Yes, he’s on his way. Gilma? A Northern name.

(The phone rings. And rings.)
MICHELEINE: (calling out.) Marianna, Marianna, will you please get the telephone?
