North Salem High School, Salem, Oregon, 2000s. Diwata and Solomon, two high school students, are attending the first meeting of the Speech and Debate team. Diwata, an aggressive and theatrical girl who has been rejected by the drama department, is the mastermind behind the team, and needs members in order to get a performance credit.
