Synopsis

David Rabe’s In the Boom Boom Room tells the story of Chrissy, a young go go dancer with big dreams and a bigger need to be loved. She dreams of leaving her job at the sleazy Boom Boom Room in Philadelphia to become a professional dancer in New York City. She wants desperately to be loved by a good man, but only seems to attract creeps and jerks. Chrissy explores love, friendship, and sex with a variety of characters, all the while trying to understand her relationship with her parents—long overshadowed by distant memories of abuse by her father and failed abortion attempts by her mother—to fix herself, and to find happiness for herself.
