Synopsis

In Sir Arthur Wing Pinero’s lighthearted farce, Dandy Dick, the deanery of St. Marvells is thrown upside down by the annual horse races. The sanctimonious Dean is staunchly against the sport, but when he finds himself in desperate need of 500 pounds—due, in large part, to the extravagant spending of his two daughters—gambling on his sister’s horse may be the only way to save himself. Identities are mistaken, plots are hatched and thwarted, lovers are reunited, and more as everyone’s fate hangs on a victory for Dandy Dick.
