Overview
Synopsis
Something Intangible in set in 1941 Hollywood at the movie studio run by the Wiston brothers, Tony and Dale. The studio is known for Petey Pup, the cartoon dog, but Tony wants to move beyond Petey Pup shorts and create an artistic masterpiece. Dale, the prosaic but realistic half of the duo, tries to hold everything together in the wake of Tony's flights of (unprofitable) genius. Dale has a mentally handicapped son, and he knows that he will have to leave a trust fund for the boy to have a decent life. Bruce Graham's play highlights the tension between art and commerce, especially when that tension threatens to tear a family apart.
