Synopsis

Nothing Rhymes With Juneteenth finds a child and a parent trying to complete a rap for a school presentation. Pete wants to present to class about his favorite holiday, Halloween. But what rhymes with Juneteenth? Although Jean, his parent, is initially confused, Pete explains that this year, he is dressing up as one of the liberation soldiers who delivered the news about emancipation.Together, Jean and Pete come up with a solution and Pete performs a brilliant rap. This play was written to spark conversation about race in America.

Editor's Note: This is a ten minute play. The roles can be played by either gender.
