London Road

Musical

Overview

Synopsis

London Road is set in Ipswich, Suffolk, in and around London Road during the serial murders of local prostitutes and subsequent trial of killer Steve Wright in 2006–2008. The musical focuses primarily on the experiences of twelve residents of London Road, whose homes became embroiled in the police investigation and obtrusive press coverage. However, each resident takes on multiple roles as they convey the feelings and reports of those living and working in the area at the time. Based upon a series of interviews conducted by Alecky Blythe, the musical does not attempt to convey the murders or the victims, but instead takes a community focus, discovering how the residents rebuilt their lives following the tragic murders.
