Plot

Act One

In a darkened house, former secret service agent, Frank Farmer, shields his client from a would-be assassin. When the assassin reaches for his gun, two gunshots ring out in the dark.

The scene switches to a concert starring the famous singer, Rachel Marron. Surrounded by her backing dancers, Rachel strides downstage to sing (“Queen of the Night”). Backstage, Rachel’s manager, Bill Devaney, and Tony, her personal security manager, reveal that she has a stalker who has broken into the venue and left a letter on Rachel’s dressing room table. Bill angrily demands that Tony finds out who is behind it and how they got through security.

A few days later, Bill goes to see Frank and tries to hire him to work as Rachel’s bodyguard. Despite being offered a huge salary, Frank refuses as he doesn’t work for celebrities. Bill is not prepared to give up and he shows Frank the letter left by Rachel’s stalker. It is deranged and violent, and clearly scares Bill. Bill explains that Rachel
