Synopsis
Tom is a nervous school teacher about to start his first day of teaching. He tries to relax with a little TV when various characters representing facets of his personality materialize from the television set. Tom is hesitant at first to accept their help, but with a little friendly prodding, they help Tom see how great a teacher he has been all along! Reviving the catchy, playful Saturday morning hits of the 70s, Schoolhouse Rock Live! is both educational and enjoyable for everyone!

Context
Schoolhouse Rock Live! takes direct inspiration and all its music from its television predecessor, Schoolhouse Rock. The brainchild of advertising executive David McCall who noticed how much easier it was for his son to memorize television jingles than times tables, Schoolhouse Rock was created to bring a little learning into Saturday morning cartoons. The show opens on Tom, a young man who starts his career as a teacher in the morning. His alarm clock rings, and as he gets ready for the day, his thoughts ring out -- voiced by characters that represent different facets of Tom’s personality: George- the romantic one, Dori- the playful one, Schulie- the innocent ingenue, Joe- the “cool” one, and Dina- the levelheaded mature one.
