Context

Rudolph first came to life in the 1964 TV movie Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. This film was based on the hit Johnny Marks song of the same name. When it came time to choose the music for the film, they knew Johnny Marks was just the man for the job. He wrote seven additional songs including “A Holly, Jolly Christmas” and “Silver and Gold,” two songs that would become stand alone Christmas standards for years to come.
