Act I, Part I
The knight, Falstaff, is sealing a few letters at the Garter Inn when Dottor Cajus enters, screaming, accusing him of having beat his servants and worn out his horse. Falstaff is barely aware of the Dottor, and shoves him off, causing Dottor Cajus to turn on Bardolfo and Pistola, Falstaff’s servants, who got him so drunk that they robbed him. They incredulously deny the claim, and Dottor Cajus leaves in a huff, stating he will only drink so much around good, upstanding people. Falstaff then takes out his purse to take stock of what money he has remaining, ordering his servants to deliver the letters he has finished writing; one to Alice Ford, and the other to Meg. Falstaff is setting out to woo the two rich ladies and therefore steal money from them so he may continue his life of frivolity and drinking. Bardolfo and Pistola, however, refuse to do so, claiming that it would be undignified. Falstaff is furious, gives the letters to a page, and chases the two servants out
