Overview
Synopsis
A three act opera about a young painter, Salvini, who falls in love with the fiance of the wealthy and powerful Lord Adelson, Nelly. Nelly's uncle, Struley, outlawed from Ireland, where the opera takes place, for some unspecified political offense, and a bitter enemy of Adelson, uses this passion as a means to be revenged on Adelson. A letter, seemingly, from Adelson's father giving news of Adelson's impending marriage to a London lady of rank, is shown to Salvini and this brings matters to a crisis. An attempted abduction of Nelly by Struley is foiled by Salvini, and the opera ends with Salvini cured of his infatuation.
