Overview

Synopsis

A penniless Tom Fashion arrives in Scarborough for the wedding of his older brother, Lord Foppington. Foppington has cut Tom off from the family fortune and Tom is seeking his revenge. After learning that Foppington is betrothed to a very wealthy woman he has never met, Tom vows to marry Foppington’s fiancée and steal her fortune. Tom, along with his motley crew of friends, tangle themselves in a love quadrangle and a series of ruses. Can Tom outwit his brother and win himself a new fortune? One of Sheridan’s lesser-known works, A Trip to Scarborough is sure to charm audiences and leave them rolling with laughter.
