About Landmark Musical Theatre

This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius! - from HAiR (1968)

Well, not exactly. But it was the dawning of a new Bay Area musical theatre company, Landmark Musical Theatre! Our company grew out of a desire to bring our production of Tomfoolery to a new home in the big city after a successful four-week run at Santa Clara Players in the spring of 2015. When the Eureka Theatre became available, what else were we supposed to do except "put on a show!"

With the support of our Santa Clara cast and many friends and family, we managed to raise enough money in literally a few days to acquire the rights to repeat the production in San Francisco and rent the theater. Before you knew it, it was opening night! Our first production ran at the Eureka from July 17 to August 2, 2015.

Dreams can come true again, when everything old is new again! - from The Boy From Oz (2003)

In the fall of 2015, artistic director Jon Rosen got involved with a newly emerging theater venue in San Francisco, the Great Star Theatre in Chinatown. Originally a Chinese opera house in the 1920s, it spent many years as a movie theater showing Hong Kong "action" genre films. After being closed for a number of years, it reopened in 2015 as a place for performances of a slightly off-beat nature.

Jon's involvement with the venue led to an offer to stage the first Broadway musical ever produced on that stage. And that led Landmark Musicals to its second production, the Bay area premiere of the hit Broadway musical The Boy From Oz, a story about Peter Allen, the famed songwriter, showman and one-time husband to Liza Minelli (and son-in-law to Judy Garland). The show ran at the Great Star from April 23 to May 15, 2016.

So, stand well back we're coming through, nothing can stop us now! With the start of our 2017 season, we are planning three productions at the EXIT Theatre. We have only announced our opening production, The Roar of the Greasepaint, the Smell of the Crowd, but before that show opens, we will have announced a July/August production and also an October/November production.

We have received our approved 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt authorization from the I.R.S. so we are accepting all forms of grants and donations.

Stay tuned, we are moving ahead!
