About Acadia Repertory Theatre
The Acadia Repertory Theatre in Somesville on Mount Desert Island, Maine has presented over 300 productions and employed over 750 performers, directors, designers, and technicians. Its home is the rustic Masonic Hall in Somesville, which is converted each summer into a 148 seat, intimate performance space.
Over the years a strong audience base has been developed from local residents and summer visitors. Some of our subscribers and patrons have been with us since our very first season. Part of this continuity has been due to the diverse selection of shows. The theatre has staged the works of playwrights ranging from Sophocles to Shakespeare to Shaw to Neil Simon. The Acadia Rep. has always been dedicated to producing interesting stories about interesting people in its intimate performance space.
The summer season begins in late June and runs until the Labor Day weekend, offering a 4 play summer subscription series. The Children's Theatre Program performs at the theatre all summer long on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings at 10:30 AM.
