About Different Stages San Deigo

You have found yourself at Different Stages in San Diego County. As the name implies we perform at different venues in San Diego County; Our first home was The Ocean Beach Playhouse in 2012 and for the last three years at The Hall in the historical Swedenborgian Church. The Swedenborg Church closed in February 2016. and is now a Buddist Temple. We have also staged productions at The Horton Grand, The AVO Playhouse, La Jolla Commons Theatre, The Sunshine Brooks, OB Playhouse our January production at the Point Loma Playhouse and Oceanside Retirement Community.

Different Stages info:

Different Stages' first production "Star On the Door" opened at The Sunshine Brooks Theatre in Oceanside in October 2010. In July of 2011 the new theatrical group opened their first production of "The Dixie Swim Club" at The AVO Playhouse in Vista. The following year the group opened "Somewhere In Between" which was the inaugural production of the newly formed Ocean Beach Playhouse. Another production of The enormously popular "The Dixie Swim Club" opened in the fall followed by Vampire Lesbians Of Sodom (moved from Swedenborg Church Hall) and Last train To Nibroc at that location. Different Stages and Point Loma Playhouse presented the San Diego premiere of Building The Wall by by Robert Schenkkan in January 2018

In October of 2012 the group found a home at The Swedenborg Church Hall where productions of "The Physic", "Vampire Lesbians of Sodom", The Reindeer Monologues, Burn This, yet another production of "The Dixie Swim Club" (blame the audiences for this!), The Sea Horse, Wrinkles (the groups first musical by local writer Greg Evans), The Brothers Lipschitz (by local writer Paul Halem), MOMologues, Lone Star & Laundry and Bourbon Santaland Diaries/Season Greetings and the San Diego premiere of "Race" by David Mamet. We present not only thought provoking theatre but also off the wall, edgy and over the top that brings much laughter and discussion!

Different Stages also enlists the talent of local directors which have included: George Bailey, Mark Robertson, Kristen Fogle and James P. Darvas. Jerry Pilato who heads up the group.
