Founded in 1982, Theater Emory is the resident professional theater company at Emory University, and the producing organization for Theater Studies. Serving as a laboratory for faculty artistic research, Theater Emory engages students and professional artists in the creation of innovative productions. It has professional affiliations with Actors' Equity Association (seasonal agreement) and C4 Atlanta, Unified Auditions.
Theater Emory as the producing organization and Theater Studies as the academic program, make up the collaborative whole of Theater at Emory. Our shared artistic faculty and staff pursue theater both as an integral part of a liberal arts education and as a site of serious inquiry.
Theater Emory focuses on student involvement in many capacities from technical to acting, with auditions open to any student. This unique partnering of undergraduates with professional artists in residence creates distinctive opportunities: to link theory and practice; to let mature artists and gifted students inspire each other; and to make theater in which young artists and seasoned professionals bring their unique perspectives to the questions posed in the plays.
