Troy Civic Theatre began providing quality entertainment and live theatre experiences to the Troy community in 1965. We pride ourselves on performing high quality shows, blending cast members that are both veterans and newcomers. Geri Nichols – our costumer – was a charter member in 1965, and is still consistently active within the theatre to this day.
Each individual season we provide four unique shows. The shows are selected by a play-reading committee, and are voted on by the board of directors.
We also work with local playwrights to workshop original productions as season extras. Most recently the theatre presented a staged reading of Troy businessman Todd Bryant’s play Haveberger’s Disease.
Our theatre mascot is a rubber chicken called “Chickie”. Chickie is hidden somewhere onstage in (almost) every show – Theatre members who know the tradition spend time before the shows and at intermissions trying to find him.
