About Diamond Valley Singers

The Diamond Valley Singers (DVS) was established in 1985 to provide a medium for community members in the Diamond Valley and surrounding areas to exercise their talents, and at the same time to raise money for charity. Since our inception, we have donated over $165,000 (as at 2019) to charities, including World Vision, International Needs Australia, Open House, and the Elizabeth Nursery School in Malawi. DVS has members of all ages, from primary school upwards. We have people from all walks of life, each bringing their own areas of expertise into the organisation and generously donating their skills when needed. The primary skill required is, of course, that members can sing in tune and hold a part. We are one of the few companies in Melbourne who do not audition our chorus for musicals or our choir for oratorio. Members do not need to be able to read music to be involved.

Our annual program features a fully staged musical production in the first half of the year, performed in July in collaboration with the Eltham Orchestra. An oratorio or other major choral work takes place in the second half of the year, with performances in November. A junior performing arts program, smaller choral and theatrical concerts and Christmas carols round out the year. These experiences ensured that the varied musical tastes of our audiences and members were catered for.
