The Department of Theatre and Dance is a collaborative community of artists and scholars – faculty, staff and students, aiming to achieve the highest level of excellence in their teaching, learning, research, creative endeavors and outreach to the community and state. Our students explore all aspects of the performing arts through classes, studios and hands-on experiences onstage and behind the scenes. Rooted in the liberal arts traditions, our program prepares students with the skills necessary to pursue a variety of careers in the performing arts and beyond.

Small program within a large university; maximum of 16 students in each cohort. Conservatory-level training combined with an R-1 University and a liberal arts degree. 9:1 faculty-to-student ratio. Six productions annually: two plays, two musicals and two dance productions, as well as performance opportunities outside the department (operas, music ensembles, community engagements). Student-centered individualized learning in a collaborative, holistic, cutting-edge learning environment. Faculty composed of active industry professionals; directors, choreographers and performers.
