The Red Cedar Youth Stage, or ReCYS (pronounced REE-sis), was founded by Blaine Halverson in Menomonie, Wisconsin in the Spring of 2009. After sharing his vision with artists and community leaders, ReCYS was brought under the umbrella of Menomonie Theater Guild, the oldest existing community theater organization in West Wisconsin. Halverson served as MTG Executive Director and as ReCYS Artistic Director for five years.
In July of 2014, ReCYS became an independent arts organization, still based in Menomonie. All told, ReCYS has provided participation opportunities to well over 1000 area youth!
ReCYS not only offers traditional theatrical productions featuring young people, but also theater instruction, after school programming, and summer day camps, both independently and in cooperation with other non-profit arts and education organizations.
