The Alamogordo Music Theatre, Inc., may well be the oldest musical theater company in the Southwest. Over the years, AMT has acquired a reputation for producing musical entertainment that goes far beyond what most people would expect to find in a community this size. Although there are a number of fine theater groups in the area, AMT is the only one that is devoted solely to musical theater. Since its founding in 1958, AMT has provided our community with over 100 full scale musical productions.
Alamogordo Music Theatre is a non-profit, all-volunteer corporation. Every person, in every capacity, donates their time and talents to AMT. No one receives monetary compensation for their involvement in AMT productions and projects.
The “profit” from every AMT production is reinvested in the Alamogordo community thru:
Contributions to the Flickinger Center for the Performing Arts.
Sponsorship of the talent portion, and the accompanying scholarship award, of the annual Sertoma Miss Alamogordo/Miss Otero pageant.
The Don Fox Memorial Scholarship – A competitive scholarship open to graduating seniors from Alamogordo, Cloudcroft, Mescalero and Tularosa with the intent to pursue a degree in the arts.
The Martha Julian Memorial Scholarship – a scholarship, awarded each fall, open to any person who is pursuing a degree in the arts.
The Ted Lewis Memorial Scholarship – a general scholarship, awarded each fall, open to any person who has been active in AMT.
Quality entertainment and service to the community. Two great reasons to take in an AMT show!
