About Gonzaga Dramatic Association
The Gonzaga Dramatic Association (GDA) stages two shows each academic year—one in the fall and one in the spring. Over the years, the GDA has staged everything from comedies and dramas to mysteries and musicals. Its members are involved in every aspect of the productions—they build and paint sets, design and sew costumes, serve as stage managers, operate the spotlight, and, of course, act and sing on stage.
All of the GDA's performances take place in Gonzaga’s Sheehy Theater, the oldest, continually-operating theater in the old federal city of Washington. Built in 1896, it has hosted at least one production every year since. In 2013, the 800-seat theater was completely renovated, incorporating state-of-the-art technology and equipment as well as a two-story Theater Arts Center with a set construction shop, rehearsal space, and more.
