The Jackson Theatre Guild (a 501c3 organization) exists to promote, encourage, and support quality theatrical productions, the arts, and the educational aspect of theatre in Jackson, TN and its surrounding areas.
Our History
Approaching 50 years of service to our community, the Jackson Theatre Guild was chartered in 1965 by Jesse Byrum with the help of co-founders Elizabeth Fosse and Bob Huett and was created in response to overwhelming local encouragement.
The Guild’s first production was The Sound of Music, performed on the Jackson Junior High stage. From that moment on it was clear that this area was hungry for and ready to support live theatre.
Today with the aid of alumni from the Guild’s past and it's constant flow of new members, the Guild continues to be relevant as an artistic outlet and recognized as an intregal asset in growing our community.
The Guild's high caliper of professionalism has inspired many of our actors to seek careers in the entertainment industry. Our evergrowing rolodex of alumni includes Second City performer Derek Shipman, broadway actor John West, recording artist - Lauren Pritchard, who was also a member of the original broadway cast of Spring Awakening and Becky Fly, who has appeared in multiple Hollywood films to date.
