Riverland's Theatre Department is a high-energy, performance-oriented program. Productions vary from classical tragedy to modern comedy and from full-scale, large cast musicals to intimate, small cast plays.
Students are encouraged to get involved in all areas of theatre production including, but not limited to: acting, stage management, design, technical crew, set construction, house management, and box office. Strong academic offerings provide challenges in and out of the classroom.
Riverland Theatre produces four main stage productions each academic year (two plays and two musicals) that encompass a wide variety of eras and styles. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Summerset Theatre, which has performed on the Riverland campus during the summer months since 1968. Each year, Riverland students attend and compete at the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Region 5 Festival.
