The Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Rhode Island College is a vibrant creative community, where students, artist/teachers, community members and guest artists work hand in hand. Your education is why we are here; our amazing students are our most valuable and valued resource. We are delighted that you are interested in learning more about joining RIC’s performing arts family.
The quality of music, theatre and dance at RIC is second to none. Our choral students were recently recognized by the Grammy Awards for their virtual performance of "When I Think of You"; our theatre students have been top competitors at the Region I Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival every year, either winning first, second or honorable distinction; and our dance students regularly train and perform with professional guest choreographers and celebrated filmmakers.
An affordable state school that dates from its founding in 1854, making it the oldest public institution of higher education in the state, Rhode Island College is located in Providence, RI, the nation’s creative capital. Our campus is minutes from downtown in a quiet, 180-acre suburban setting. We encourage you to see more of our campus and our community by scheduling a virtual campus visit here. RIC’s programs in music, theatre, and dance are regionally and nationally recognized for their excellence. Graduates are prepared for successful careers in the arts as performers, scholars and educators – without the debt.
