The Owrang Company, initially Owrang Theater Group, was founded in 2015 by Sadegh Hatefi, Rokhand Gharavi, and Adam Hatefi in Sacramento, California. The Director of the Theater Group, Sadegh Hatefi, the well-known Persian actor, writer and director, was the Director of the Iranian National Theater Company for years, and has in his record multiple successful tours through Iran and Europe.
The successful performance of "Arash the Archer" at the Guild Theater in Sacramento in addition to staging 3 Play Readings in the city's libraries in cooperation with artists and art students from across the Sacramento area have been the accomplishments of the group in the course of the two years since it was founded. The Group's goal has been attracting young talent in the Sacramento area to participate in a slate of art works - especially performing arts - in order to ensure the survival of Persian culture and language among the new generation of Iranian-Americans.
Recently, Sadegh Hatefi, along with his old friend and colleague Manijeh Golchin, once again took to the stage in a musical that celebrates Persian music called "The Story of an Exhibition", which has had a successful run in its tour with 5 showings across California and in Seattle, WA.
