Nora grew up in Beverly Hills and graduated from Wellesley College in 1962 with a degree in political science. Ephron worked as a journalist, writing for the New York Post and Esquire magazine.

Nora and Delia co-authored the play Love, Loss and What I Wore, an adaptation of Ilene Beckerman’s book of the same name, which ran Off-Broadway for two years.
