Biography
Joe DiPietro
Born in Teaneck, New Jersey in 1961, Joe DiPietro is an American playwright, lyricist, and author. Joe attended Rutgers University in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. His best known works include All Shook Up, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change , and Memphis. I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change ran for 12 years Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre. Although DiPietro made his Broadway debut with All Shook Up in 2005, it was Memphis in 2010 that won him critical acclaim. Winning the 2010 Tony Award for Best Musical, Memphis ran for three years at the Shubert Theatre. DiPietro’s next Broadway success would come with Nice Work If You Can Get It, earning him a Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical and winning the Drama Desk Award for Best Book of a Musical.
