Brian Crawley is a playwright and screenwriter. He majored in Theater Studies at Yale and got an MFA in Acting from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He wrote the book and lyrics for Violet (composer Jeanine Tesori) which was mounted Off-Broadway by Playwrights Horizons in 1997 and then produced on Broadway in 2014. Violet won the Drama Critics' Circle Award and Lucille Lortel Award as Best Musical. He also wrote the book and lyrics for A Little Princess (composer Andrew Lippa), which debuted at Theatreworks of Palo Alto in the summer of 2004. Brian is a member of the Dramatists Guild.
