Sammy Cahn

Sammy Cahn was an American lyricist and songwriter, born on June 18, 1913, in New York City. Famous for his witty, romantic, and emotionally resonant lyrics, Cahn was a master of the American songbook, writing countless standards for film, stage, and popular recordings. His collaborations with composers like Jule Styne and Jimmy Van Heusen produced some of the most memorable songs of the 20th century.

Cahn began his career writing for vaudeville and Tin Pan Alley before moving into Hollywood, where he found his greatest success. His lyrics were featured in dozens of film musicals, many of them written for Frank Sinatra.
