Peter Sinn Nachtrieb

Peter Sinn Nachtrieb is an American playwright. He graduated from Brown University with degrees in biology and theater before completing an MFA in Creative Writing at San Francisco State University. Nachtrieb uses varying degrees of dark comedy in his plays and often deals with themes of biology, misfits, and characters struggling against large systems. His most popular play, the apocalyptic comedy boom, was Theatre Communication Group’s most-produced play in the 2009-2010 season. In addition to his plays, Nachtrieb wrote the book and co-wrote lyrics for the musical Fall Springs, which debuted in 2019. His work has been produced at prestigious theatres like Woolly Mammoth, Seattle Rep, and Actors Theatre of Louisville.

Nachtrieb is an alumnus of the New Dramatists playwriting residency and was the playwright-in-residence at the Z Space performance space in San Francisco from 2013 to 2018. His work has won him the Will Glickman Prize, given annually to an outstanding play that debuts in San Francisco, as well as the American Theatre Critics Association New Play Award. He is based in San Francisco.
