Biography
Sean Grennan
Sean Grennan is an American playwright, librettist, lyricist, and actor from Oak Park, Illinois. He attended Northwestern University and began his career as an actor, appearing in several regional theatre productions and TV series. Grennan transitioned into writing as co-librettist for the musical Phantom of the Country Opera. He then wrote several shows for the American Heartland Theatre in Kansas City and Peninsula Players Theatre in Wisconsin.
Grennan’s plays tend to be small-cast comedy-dramas. Among his most popular plays is Making God Laugh, which has been heavily produced by community theatres. His plays and musicals have also been produced in China, England, Australia, Germany, Ireland, and Italy. He was the Playwright in Residence at Centre Stage’s New Play Festival and the Lamb Arts Regional Theatre. After his wife Kathy completed a 13-year run in the Broadway musical Wicked, they moved to Pennsylvania.
