Donna Hoke is an American playwright originally from Cheektowaga, New York. With a background in journalism, she began writing plays after taking a workshop for fun. Her plays are mostly written for small casts and cover themes ranging from gender politics to the pain of humanity. She has also written stage adaptations of the novels Anne of Green Gables and Little Women. Her plays have been seen across the world and she has twice been nominated for the prestigious Primus and Blackburn playwriting prizes.

Hoke is playwright-in-residence at Road Less Traveled Productions in Buffalo, New York, which frequently premiers her work. She serves on the Dramatist Guild as an ambassador for Western New York and a Plays in Progress Mentor. Aside from her plays, Hoke has published crossword puzzles and a children’s book. She regularly blogs and offers coaching for playwrights.
