Nino Rota was born into a family of musicians in Milan. He studied at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he graduated in 1929. He is most famous for his film scores for the Godfather Trilogy, winning an Academy Award for Best Original Score for The Godfather Part II in 1974.
