Biography
John Marston
John Marston was an English playwright and poet. He lived during the early Elizabethan and early Jacobean era. Marston followed his father into the legal profession but soon gave it up to pursue writing. He is best remembered for his satirical works, including The Dutch Courtesan (1604-5) and The Malcontent (1603). He also had a very public dispute with the playwright, Ben Jonson. Marston gave up writing for the stage in 1609 and became a priest.
