Jean Poiret was a French actor, writer, and director. He was best known for his 1973 stage play, La Cage Aux Folles, which was later adapted into a hugely successful Broadway musical. Poiret directed the hit film Le Zèbre in 1992, but died suddenly of a heart attack three months before its release.
