Analysis
A Spanish army surgeon (Chirurgo is Italian for Surgeon) aids Don Alvaro when he is wounded in a battle. Don Carlo has run to his rescue, and begs the surgeon to help him. Against all the odds, the surgeon manages to save Alvaro’s life.
