Torre is a friend and mentor of Juan. Here, he introduces the premise to the play.
Ladies and gentlemen, tonight’s story is true. The irony is that it’s about many great lies. Who would believe a chicken farmer could save the world?
(He chuckles to himself.)
Even the characters here are not real.
(The ENSEMBLE all wear red scarves pauses to look at the TORRE as if to say, “do you mean me?” TORRE waves them to continue. They do.)
We are taught to believe that it is not good to lie.
(Then seriously.)
But what if lies were all you had? -your only tool. This is his story, the true story of the greatest liar ever. This is Garbo! Vamos!
