SCENE 6. PARK SCENE.

The Beat Boys enter from stage left. They pass around a cigarette as they talk to each other. Mic is holding an acoustic guitar.

Len: So I’m thinking, we need something… new for this worldwide broadcast.

Mic: (Stuttering) A la…la…la…love song!

Harry: Don’t you think the world’s had enough of silly love songs?

Bingo: Wait! I’ve got it. A song about.. a boy!

Len: …And?

Bingo: He meets… a girl!

Len: And would they… fall in love?

Bingo: Yeah!

Len: So you mean… a love song!

Bingo: Yeah!

Harry: (To Bingo) Have you ever, even kissed a girl?

Bingo: (Thinks for a moment) Do mothers count?

Mic: (Hysterical laugh) Ha… ha… ha…

Len: (To Mic) Have “you” ever kissed a girl?

Mic: (Disgusted) W…w…w…w…w…w…w… (sheepishly) Once.

Harry: So you had a good snog? (Nudges Mic) And got to first base then?

Bingo: Ha! Played a little tonsil hockey, did we? (Closes his eyes and slowly wiggles his tongue at Mic).

(Mic, Len and Harry look at Bingo and are disgusted. They take a moment to compose themselves).

Harry: (To Mic) Was there any hanky panky?

Mic: Get f… f… f… f… f… f… Ar, forget it.

(Jude and Abbey enter from stage left.

The Beat Boys continue in silence appearing to write a new song).
