MOTHER TERESA
I left my family to give my life up completely to God and serve the poorest of the poor. I didn’t experience the drama of different personalities and difficult interpersonal relationships but I saw from those in whose families my sisters and I went out to help.
MARY
Maybe you had the better way! (smiling and laughing)
PRINCESS
(The princess pauses for a moment, thinking) There’s something to be said for that.
MARY
I felt I was sacrificed to go under the knife to produce two children.
PRINCESS DIANA
I was sacrificed to produce an heir and a spare.
MARY
Labor was hard. I had to have a C-section.
PRINCESS DIANA
I almost had one. My first delivery was induced. Labor was hard for me, too. Of course, no one discussed that possibility of a C-section with me beforehand. They always kept me in the dark about my own life.
MOTHER TERESA
I was a sacrificial lamb all for Jesus.(two ladies sit) Yet I too had dark days of the soul. People will do things that hurt us. Our calling no matter where, or who, is to love like Christ loves us. Illusions come and go. We can’t give life to them because they lead us to ruin.
MARY
I felt stranded in life. I didn’t belong where I was and with whom, in my world.
